St Peter & St Paul CE Primary School
Attendance Policy
The school has a legal duty to publish its absence figures to parents and to promote good attendance. Equally, parents have a duty to make sure that their children attend school. School staff is committed to working with parents as the best way to ensure as high a level of attendance as possible.
Daily Attendance
Children are required to be in school by 8.45am. Registers will be closed at 9.15am.
Any child arriving between 8.45am and 9.15am will be recorded as late.
Any child arriving after 9.15am is late after the close
of registers and this will be recorded as unauthorised for the whole morning
session.
Parents are asked to ring the school by 9.30am at the latest, on the first day of their child’s absence, to explain the reason for the absence.
Written proof is required if an absence is for a medical appointment.
If the school does not receive a call from the Parent/Carer by 9.30am on the first day of absence and the school has not had prior notice of the absence, a call will be made by the Attendance Officer to the first contact telephone number of the child’s data information. On failing to make contact a letter is sent home asking for the absence to be explained. Any absences that remain unexplained will be recorded as unauthorised.
